Activities:

1) Using either this painting or "Nighthawks", have participants create a story about what they see

2) Have participants create a picture of something similarly "plain" like part of the chalkboard, part of the wall, the door to the classroom or even the ceiling.  Remind them to focus on the shadows and the different ways that light hits that object.
